Mhmm.

Well. Considering most users would be seeing too much information on my life in this journal they're probably entitled to a few more details than just my name.

I'm Nicholas Maguire and everyone calls me Nicky. I think that's because I was named for my maternal grandfather and it got confusing having the two of us in the same room, so I got the diminutive.

I was reared in Ireland - a few miles further north and I'd be Northern Irish - to an Irish horse trainer and his English schoolteacher wife. As a result of my upbringing I knew how to ride horses before I knew how to ride a bicycle. I had a pony as a young boy. Yes, I know most people would be envious, but bicycles don't generate manure. Horses do.

I went to Harrow when I was 13, (Harrow being one of the good "public schools", for non-Anglophiles here) and went on to St. George's Hospital Medical School (University of London) where I got my M.D. I did my housemanship at St. George's, and was about to move on to my fellowship in trauma surgery when some unforseen events forced my relocation.

I am currently residing in the United States and have been since 1993. Kansas is a lot flatter than I ever expected it to be, and I never expected to say this but I actually miss miserable weather. Fifteen minute rainstorms just aren't enough for me, I suppose.

I live with Elaine, my ward, and her boyfriend TJ. I am an avid hunter, fly-fisherman and general outdoors sort.
